Start with cash timing.
Update it each week.

The workbook includes a blank forecast, a worked example using fictional figures, and instructions. Enter your own opening cash, reporting currency, week-start date, and expected cash movements.

Use one reporting currency and positive values for receipts and payments. Formulas calculate totals, weekly movements, closing cash, and headroom against your chosen minimum cash balance.

How to use the template

  1. Set the starting point. Reconcile your available cash and enter the first week’s start date, currency, and minimum cash balance.
  2. Enter expected receipts. Use likely cash dates, including collections, deposits, and committed funding. Keep uncertain funding out of the base case.
  3. Enter payments when due. Include suppliers, payroll, operating costs, taxes, debt service, and investment. Check for double counting.
  4. Review closing cash and headroom. Negative headroom means the forecast is below the minimum you entered. It is a prompt to investigate and plan.
  5. Refresh every week. Save a dated copy, compare the completed week with actuals, reset the opening cash, and roll the remaining schedule forward. The template does not roll weeks automatically.

For multi-currency businesses, translate inputs consistently and document your exchange-rate assumptions. Restricted cash and undrawn facilities require separate consideration. This is a starting template, not a full treasury or multi-currency model.
